Most of the spots on your skin - freckles, birthmarks, moles - are normal, but some may be skin cancers. There are three main types of skin cancer. Fortunately, they can usually be discovered at an early stage, when they are readily curable. If you ever spot these or any other suspicious or changing growths, see your doctor promptly. You are your own first line of defense. Most of the spots on your skin - freckles, birthmarks, moles - are normal, but some may be skin cancers. There are three main types of skin cancer. Restylane® is a dermal filling agent indicated for treatment of facial lines, folds and wrinkles. This natural substance, hyaluranic acid, is injected under the skin surface to fill lines and add volume that was lost during the normal aging process. The effects are immediate and can last for up to 6 to 8 months. The treatment session is approximately 45 minutes after the initial consultation visit. To make your Restylane® treatment more comfortable, the treated area can be anesthetized with a topical cream or anesthetic block.
Skin Rejuvenation / Chemical Peels Chemical peels involve application of an acid solution to the skin, which helps improve acne blemishes, sun damage, age spots, freckles, rough skin and uneven pigmentation. All portions of the body can benefit from a chemical peel. The procedure causes a uniform exfoliation of the skin layers, varying from superficial to deep. The peel is applied for less than 10 minutes, and once washed away reveals vibrant, glowing skin. Mild side effects can include temporary redness, stinging and skin flaking.
Our laser hair removal systems are a popular, non-invasive option to reduce unwanted hair. Unlike other techniques, laser hair removal leaves your skin smooth-textured and without irritation. Treatments typically involve monthly sessions that last approximately 15-30 minutes. We recommend approximately 4-6 treatments to achieve optimal results, with occasional touch-up appointments. The feeling of the laser during treatment is described as a “rubber-band snap” and is very well tolerated. We recommend sun avoidance a few days before and immediately after treatments. We look forward to meeting you and determining if you are a candidate for laser hair removal!
Sclerotherapy was developed over 75 years ago and is at present one of the most prevalent treatments for spider and varicose veins. During treatment, a sclerosing agent is injected into the vein through a tiny needle. Upon injection, the solution replaces the blood in the vein generating irritation and ultimately corrosion to the vessel walls. The body then starts a natural healing process and the vein begins to decompose, shrink, and eventually disappear. Depending on the number of veins being treated in any given session, treatment can last anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes.
Ultraviolet B (UVB) phototherapy involves standing in a light box, a closed-in cubicle which is lined with ultraviolet lights. You will not be locked into the light box. You may open the doors and exit the booth at any time during the treatment. In the beginning, treatment sessions may last around 30 seconds. Treatment times slowly increase, depending on patient tolerance and skin disease being treated.
